2007年11月26日午前0時（現地時間、日本時間同1時）ごろ、インドネシア東部 のスンバワ島付近でマグニチュード（Mw）6.5の地震が発生しました。さらに その4時間後に同規模（Mw =6.6）の地震がほぼ同じ場所で発生しました。どち らも逆断層型のメカニズムを持ち、深さは約10kmと決まりました。現地ではこ れらの地震による被害が発生している模様です。震源が浅かったこと、さらに 立て続けに地震が発生したことが、現地の被害を起こしていると思われます。
At 0:02 on November 26, 2007 (local time), an earthquake with moment magnitude (Mw) of 6.5 occurred in Sumbawa Island, Indonesia. After four hours of the earthquake, another earthquake of similar magnitude (Mw=6.6) hit the same region. Both earthquakes had similar thurst-type mechanisms, and occurred at depths around 10 km. The earthquakes caused local damages, which may have resulted from the shallowness and successive occurrences of the earthquakes.
